We have all seen or experienced how an object or space can trigger intense emotions. An object may represent a snapshot in time, a happy or sad event, a forgotten reminder, a different lifestyle, or a high desire for beauty. For these (and many other) reasons, therapists and counselors can help tremendously with a client's overall success in decluttering their home. When organizers and therapists work collaboratively, the physical AND emotional clutter is sorted, purged, and replaced with clarity, abundance and happiness. At Abundance Organizing, we feel collaborative therapy is the most effective technique when helping a client whose life has become unmanagable due to their clutter.

This approach has been proven to be highly successful if you have an experienced and well trained organizer and therapist working together. Since Abundance Organizing consultants have years of experience with chronic disorganization and some of the highest credentials in the industry, we confidentlly provide this service model to our clients. With our client's permission, we are happy to collaborate with a trusted therapist, counselor, or coach.

Jennifer Shively Davis is a Licensed Professional Counselor on the Abundance Organizing team. Jennifer partners with us when a client without established resources is in serious distress and needs assistance far beyond what we, as organizers, can offer.

Collabortive Therapy is not for everyone. We are happy to discuss this option if you think it might be right for you. Below are answers to some initial questions you may have about this service:

Insurance providers may cover some costs associatied with this service.

In order for this method to work, a signed release is required.
Communication between all parties involved is crucial to accomplishing the desired goal. Therefore, a release must be signed allowing us to communicate with the therapist about your needs.

Before starting any work in the home, sessions with the therapist may be necessary first.
We understand there may be a strong desire to start decluttering immediately. However, occasionally we recommend working on coping skills, communication skills and behavioral factors prior to decluttering. These skills can potentially reduce anxiety, and provide a better understanding of the upcoming process.
